This blog post I found about procrastination and the benefits talk about how procrastinating is not only a bad thing, but it can also be beneficial to some people. The post talks about five points of procrastination being beneficial to the human body. One point is that people can manage procrastination properly; this meaning that you can figure out what is making you procrastinate and defeat it so you no longer procrastinate. Procrastination is kind of like thinking about all you need to get done, how you'll get it done, and when you'll get it done. Another point is that sometimes procrastinating leads you to do things that you wouldn't normally do. You might not had tidy up your desk without procrastinating and putting a hold on other assignments needed to be done. You might not had even cleaned up another area that didn't really need to be cleaned at that moment but would've needed it sooner than later. Last point that I'll mention in this blog post is that procrastination can help when it comes to decision making (I can speak for this personally). It helps you put the final say on something because procrastinating means you're taking time from doing something you should be doing, so you're taking time to think about any big decisions that need to be made.

In Mitch Albom's article about Trump winning the election, he brings a great amount of points when writing it, but there were two points that stood out to me: how people were once scared of President Obama's presidency because they thought he was affiliated with terrorists and how both President Obama and Hillary Clinton both tried to settle down the crowds who were disgusted with Trump's win and calm all the tears poured during the election. I remember people were talking so bad towards President Barack Obama and saying how he shouldn't be president because he would lead the country down to the bottom of a black hole. Well I'm here now, and it doesn't seem like we're in a black hole to me. President Obama has made changes in this country, great changes at that, and he has changed it for the better instead of the worse. Hillary Clinton and both President Obama have made speeches and done actions to put the crowds at ease and lower their amount of terror they feel from this election's outcome. They both have spoken out about the decision and have tried to bring reassurance to the people. Hillary speaking during her concession and telling everyone how we need to have a open mind towards Trump and how were need to be able to let him do what is needed in order to do well by this country shows that she is trying to ease everyone's hurt and pain. President Obama's meeting with Trump showed how he is trying to do so as well so the people can feel as if "if President Obama is helping him, then we should be fine." Him even telling Trump that if he succeeds, so will the country. That is what truly matters.
I've experienced some disappointments lately tying to school and my academics. I recently received a failing grade on one portion of a test because I did not give enough detail to really gain a point for the prompt; it was a bit disheartening because I studied for it and felt extremely confident about my work but in result, I gained a failing grade. It was hurtful at first because of how confident I was, but it also taught me that I just need to do better. I need to be able to not only feel comfortable with what I know now, but be able to expand more into it; I need to be able to expand more out of my comfort zone. I have now learned that I need to learn a greater deal of the information rather than just a small portion that I think will just "get me by." One of my weaknesses is settling; I tend to settle with what I currently have instead of just going out there and getting all I can get. The quote of the week: "Try to look at your weakness and convert it into your strength. That's success" by Zig Ziglar, speaks to me because I do have a variety of weaknesses; however, the weaknesses will be strengthen and become my strongest points. My failures will become a learning experience and will change me for the better in the future. I plan to gain from these failures and weaknesses and profit from them in the future; they're there for a reason: to make a greater change within an individual.
This quote by Brian Tracy really speaks to me and when I was swimming through the pool of quotes he has already, this particular one jumped out at me because of all I've been thinking today. I aspire to be a doctor - particularly either a OB/GYN doctor or Pediatric Surgeon. I also think about my future rather it be about my long, exhausting years of schooling, or my life once I am a board-certified physician. I always picture myself in scrubs with my scrub cap on looking over a chart a nurse is handing me and speaking about some type of plan for this upcoming surgery I have. I see the color of my stethoscope being purple, which is hilarious because purple isn't my favorite color - it's my mom's, and I see me standing tall over others giving out orders and giving out plans on what we need to do. Every time I think of my future, I think specifically of this image. When I think of it, it makes me smile and happy because even though I'm not at this point in life yet, I'm nothing but excited to get there. So this Brian Tracy quote really spoke to me because I always picture myself in my light blue scrubs with my stethoscope around my neck and a chart in my hand for a extreme mind-bogging case that is up to me to solve. I'm excited for when this picture comes to life.
John Maxwell stated that the important factor towards success is knowing what your purpose is in life. He also said that being focused was another reason successful people are successful. I believe my purpose in life is to help people. My purpose is to help people that cannot help themselves and need someone to be there for them. My purpose is to heal people or fix people or change people for the better. I know I'm not God or a God; all I want to do is help others and care for others. There's so much evil and pain and hurt in this world that it NEEDS someone in it that wants to care for the people.
This article talks about dealing with stress and how you can cope with it. It gives different ways of dealing with stress such as, identifying stress triggers, improving stress management, and how to overcome burnout. I, personally, need to work on improving my stress management, but I also need to figure out what is causing me to become stressed.
This other article I stumbled upon that's related to this article is about how to handle stress and when to know enough is enough. It talks about moving on, learning how to cope with stress, maintain a healthy work-life balance and lifestyle, etc. Stress usually erupts in me when it comes to school and homework and personal problems like relationship troubles or friendship troubles, etc. Now I know that I need to cope with it, I need to move on and let go, I need to work on balancing my life so I can be happy, I need change. I'm going to work on all of these especially because I plan to work in the medical field, and that is a stressful field to work in. I need to improve this all now before it's too late. These articles were eye openers and now I know what I need to do when it comes to stress. The top three words that connect with me and that I feel is more important than the others are: confidence, friendship, and competitive greatness. I feel like confidence is a important aspect because the world is a extremely competitive place. No matter what a person does in life, there is going to be a lot of competition and a lot of other people that are possibly better than you. I know I'm going into the medical field when I'm older and that is a extremely competitive field; however, I'm going to be confident with myself and know what I'm capable of and possibly expand my capability. People have to be a peace with themselves and know exactly what they are able to do and what they aren't able to do, and for the things that aren't able to do, find a way to get better at it and do it! You can't continuously beat yourself up for something because then that's only going to make you feel worse and feel as if you can't do things like others. You have to know your worth. Friendship is important to me, at least, because I don't know where I would be without the support system of my friends. My friends are just like me; they all want to do something great with their lives, and I feel like having that type of atmosphere around you betters you as a person. Friendship helps you become a better you because your friends dedicate you to be a better you and sometimes when you see your friends succeeding, you want to succeed yourself. Lastly, competitive greatness is a major key in my opinion. I mentioned above how the world is a competitive place, people need to be able to fight for what they want to do or what they believe in. They can't let others beat them especially if they're more passionate about whatever it is. Competition is a big thing and everyone is always competing for something; you just have to be the best at it, which you can be.
"Don't wish it were easier. wish you were better."This quote fits perfectly with the type of lifestyle I want to have in the future. I want to work in the medical field and that's not an easy field. Any individual working in the field has to have some type of experience and training to get to where they are. Most individuals have to pursue more intense training than others and it's going to be some complicated things they'll have to learn. I aspire to be either a pediatric surgeon or ob/gyn, and both those professions require an extensive amount of training and a lot of comprehension of difficult topics/circumstances. I already know that it's going to be a hard journey and there will be things that I'm certainly not the best at; however, I'm going to be the best I can be and achieve my goal. So, this quote helps me realize that things will not get easier or simpler, but I can better myself to do well in those hard tasks.
I have not really heard of the Ryder Cup before. I have a faint memory of it being mentioned to me; however, I don't have much knowledge on the topic. After a quick Google search, I've learned that the Ryder Cup is a competition between Europe and the United States that is focused on golf. It has men from each country going against each other in the sport golf. It kind of reminds me of the Olympics but it's just men and it's just golf. Apparently the competition is named after Samuel Ryder, an English business man, who donated the trophy to the whole Ryder Cup competition. This year the Ryder Cup is being held in the United States in Chaska, Minnesota. I, personally, can't see myself watching the Ryder Cup due to the fact that I'm not that interested in golf. I barely watched the Olympics because I'm not really a sports person. I do enjoy watching basketball and sometimes football with my mom and dad, but I can't see myself sitting down and really being invested in watching golf. I think it's nice that they have a event specifically made for golf players and golf lovers, but I just can't see myself watching it. It's interesting though, there's mainly men. I'm going to assume not many women are golf players. Possibly? Or maybe there is a division specifically made for women? I'm not sure, but it seems like a nice event for golf lovers!
This summer I did a good amount of activities. I don't usually do much during my summer because I will admit, I am a pretty lazy individual. My summer typically consists of sleeping, eating, some reading, and repeating that same cycle. This summer, however, I went to Florida with my two best friends Carl and Rachel. I also went to the Drake and Future concert with them and my other friends Savanna and Rachel. I hung out with them quite often and a lot of other people. I also shaved all my hair off, which was honestly the best part in my opinion, and I figured somethings out (actually, I'm still in the progress of figuring some things out). My family doesn't typically do "traditionally summer vacations" but I have noticed we usually go to Florida almost every other year. I do miss it though. I can't imagine how next summer is going to be. This summer was possibly the best summer I've had since my middle school years. I hope next summer will be just as amazing or even better.

Victoria PerryHello! I am a high school senior at Lake Shore High School and this is my blog page for Personal Finance. I'm not use to running a blog page, but so far it's kind of fun. I enjoy typing and writing so this is like a win-win. Although typing and writing are things I enjoy, I don't plan to do something in the future regrading those two. I plan to become either a Pediatric Surgeon or OB/GYN in the future. I know it's going to be one heck of a journey; however, I am excited and ready for those challenges. There'll be a variety of subjects mentioned throughout this blog page. So, I hope you enjoy! Archives
